Hi, I’m Candice L Davis.

Are you ready to finally be the author you dreamed you could become?

I’m Candice L Davis. An award-winning writer and experienced editor who has spent more than fifteen years working in publishing. While I enjoy working with traditional publishers, I also embrace indie publishing as an exciting, exponentially growing world of limitless opportunity for artists and entrepreneurs.

I believe everyone has a story worth telling.

I coach smart, creative people to write their books and use them to accomplish big goals.

My story:

I love words. I love writing. I love books.

When I was a kid, even though people would tease me and call me a bookworm, I took it as a compliment.

Fast forward 20 years and I instilled that same love of books into both of my brilliant, beautiful, big-hearted daughters. I fostered their unique curiosities and hunger for learning through fifteen years of homeschooling which included plenty of daily reading time.

In the early 2000’s I went through a divorce—aligning almost perfectly with The Recession. I suddenly needed to earn an income for the first time in over a decade, but I wanted a job I could enjoy.

I didn’t want to put on a suit every day, play office politics, or push products I didn’t believe in as I had in my early 20’s.

I wanted to do something I could feel good about, something that would make a difference for the people I served, for me, and for my family.

For years, I’d studied literary fiction writing with some of the best authors and writing instructors in Southern California. They tore my work apart and taught me how to make it better. I went on to win some awards (including being awarded a PEN Emerging Voices Fellowship in YEAR) and I was published in respected publications, notably descant and Obsidian III. I loved writing so much and being recognized for it.

My love for helping others become authors was revealed when I got my first co-writing job, helping Top Chef star Antonia Lofaso write The Busy Mom’s Cookbook.

After that first writing gig, I took on more collaborative and ghostwriting assignments and added editing to my menu of services. (I am a devotee of The Chicago Manual of Style, but not at the expense of the author’s voice.)

I had the pleasure of working on books that went on to have a major impact for the authors and their readers. Friends and colleagues were constantly asking for help with their books, but they wanted to do the writing themselves.

My editing and writing services always included an element of coaching. I enjoyed that part of the process, and my clients benefited from it. As I learned more about coaching, I realized I could impact so many more people as an Author Coach.

I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed when you sit down to start page one of chapter one. I’ve been there.

I know how it feels to write seventy pages and feel like you’ve written yourself into a corner and have nowhere to go. In my early writing days, I left too many half-completed books to die on the hard drive.

I know the embarrassment you feel when people ask, “How’s the book coming?” and you don’t have an answer.

I understand the frustration of writing and publishing a book but not seeing the results you expected.

I can help you get over those obstacles. I’ve gotten my clients past those challenges countless times, and my methods work.

While I still love writing and spend time creating my own content every day, I dedicate most of my time to coaching people to achieve their author goals, from writing books to turning those books into significant income and influence.

And I love doing it!

s.p.a.r.k. method

My proven SPARK Writing Method is a simple framework that will take you from idea to author without any unnecessary stress.

And my framework includes a priceless element: strategies to overcome resistance and dissolve writer’s block so you can write as much as you want or need to write.

The SPARK framework will guide you to:

  1. Solidify your subject so you’re confident in your book idea and not jumping from one idea to another.

  2. Pursue your person and pay deep attention to what your reader needs and desires.

  3. Align your aspirations so your book serves you and your readers in equal measure. To be a success, your book must positively impact readers and help you achieve your goals. (I promise this is possible and makes for a better book.)

  4. Ready your roadmap and create a plan for your book content and for how your book will reach the right readers.

  5. Keep writing to “The End”—even when kids, aging parents, day jobs, partners, or business obligations demand your attention.

I’ve coached my clients to write memoirs, self-help, how-to, personal development, professional development, and other types of non-fiction books.

I’ve also helped them use their books to do amazing things like:

  • Become professional speakers

  • Create and sell digital products.

  • Launch coaching and consulting programs.

  • Create and sell physical products.

  • And more.

I love working with clients like you, people who are so successful in many areas of life, but have gotten stuck when it comes to some of their most important author goals. I can help you become a successful author.
